Monitoring SDG 6: The first step toward implementation


On the 27th of February, Tobias Schmitz and Adrien Oleszkiewicz from GIWEH attended the Swiss Water Partnership's event on monitoring SDG 6 hosted by Helvetas. The intention was to evaluate progress so far, 18 months after the adoption of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development, as well as to increase the mutual engagement amongst members of the Swiss Water Partnership on the issue of monitoring and implementing the global water targets. Presentations were made by Nathalie Rizotti of the Swiss Development Cooperation Agency, Till Berger from the Swiss Ministry for Spatial Development, and William Reidhead from the Global Expanded Monitoring Initiative (GEMI). Ms Rizotti explained SDC's its approach to the support for the global water agenda, Mr Berger explained how the Swiss governmetn is approaching the monitoring and impplementation of sustainable development in Switzerland, and Mr. Reidhead explained how the various agencies of UN Water are working together to guide monitoring efforts and support national and regional processes on SDG6.
