OECD 7th on the Water Governance Initiative (WGI) Meeting 23th - 24th June

From June 23th-24th, 2016, the OECD hosted its seventh meeting on the Water Governance Initiative (WGI) in The Hague, the Netherlands. This initiative is an international multi-stakeholder network of more than 100 members from public, private and non-profit sectors. Twice a year a Policy Forum is organized in which the members are invited to share their experiences on water governance. GIWEH has been an active member from the very beginning, March 2013, supporting the OECD Principles on Water Governance and contributing to the development of indicators. The primary aim of the seventh meeting was to organize a bottom-up consultation on water governance indicators and best practices. The outcome was an improved methodological framework within which indicators can be established. The process aligns with GIWEH’s Flagship Project, “Post-2015: Water Monitoring Framework.” GIWEH especially focuses on the development of indicators for Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and stakeholder engagement.
