The SDGs Are Official (including water!)

Just after the Pope's UN speech, the General Assembly approved the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development commonly known as the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).  Goal #6 is water and sanitation, and water is cited in several other goals as well.  Several background reports have analyzed the water content of the SDGs:

- Consolidated metadata note from UN agencies for SDG 6 indicators on water and sanitation shows interlinkages among the various water targets and indicators;

- The Critical Role of Water in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, by Douglas Merrey, (Consultant) and Seleshi Bekele Awulachew (UN-DESA), Draft report Feb. 2015

- Water in the World We Want, by C.J. Schuster-Wallace and R. Sandford, 2015, report published by UNU-INWEH.
