GIWEH’s Director General, Nidal Salim, participated in a High-Level Panel at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, in Geneva, on Wednesday, January 28th, 2015. The roundtable focused on “Local vs. Global Approaches to Security Threats.” Experts discussed different threat dimensions and various contexts of fragility, looking at their impact on stability and development. The exchange included issues such as radicalism and terrorism in the Sahel region, the Ebola health security crisis, and environmental security—particularly looking at Central Asia, Africa, and Latin America. High level participants included Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Mohamedou, Deputy Director and Academic Dean (GCSP), Dr. Sylvie Briand, Director of Pandemic and Epidemic Diseases Department (WHO), and Mr. Markus Heiniger, Focal Point Conflict and Human Rights (SDC).
