One of GIWEH’s most fundamental goals is to empower governments, organisations and individuals with the knowledge and technical skills they need for effective decision making when tackling issues related to water, the environment and health. Post 2015, GIWEH has become especially focused on supporting development actors working to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
This is why we are dedicated to hosting hands-on training workshops, summer programs, internships, and capacity building programs to spread essential knowledge and skills. Our courses and workshops take place in Geneva, Switzerland and are especially focused on themes such as water security, water and sustainability, and water governance.
We take great pride in our current courses which can be viewed below, however we can also offer more tailor-made courses to groups with specific requirements. To discuss possibilities for a bespoke training course, please contact info@giweh.ch.

The participants benefit from multidisciplinary approaches adopted by GIWEH and its international team. They have full access to the United Nations library and the University of Geneva. Moreover, GIWEH can facilitate communication with the private sector and non-governmental organizations.

Environment and Water Governance Training Program
-
This program serves as a platform for exchanging experience and knowledge on water, environment and health between experts, scientists and researchers from different countries and backgrounds. The program provides a wide array of new approaches to water resources management based on green economic concepts and new green technologies, among others. The program develops a vision that helps to improve socio-economic well-being beyond current levels by moving to an integrated approach, including health and gender aspects. The participants benefit from experiences of other regions and different approaches to understanding constraints in water policy implementation. In addition, the program provides a unique chance to visit some of the Geneva-based international organizations and learn more about their role and their programs on water management.
