Mr. Moez Allaoui represented GIWEH at the “Water Growth and Sustainability: Transboundary Water Cooperation for Sustainable Growth and Stability in MENA” Conference, hosted by the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC), on April 26th to 28th, 2016, in Szentendre, Hungary. This conference focused on integrating MENA’s water security efforts into the framework of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. Stakeholders from the MENA region and other concerned countries addressed water security challenges, sustainability, development, and human well-being at both the local and national scale.
GIWEH was most active in the “Transboundary Water Cooperation in the Framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” session, in which Mr. Alloaoui gave a presentation titled, “How to Measure the Indicator on Transboundary Cooperation within the SGD Goal 6.” This session provided tangible solutions to stakeholders in the MENA region in order to work toward water security and effectively measure progress on SGD Goal 6.
