We are proud to announce that GIWEH will soon host the International Conference on Water and Climate Change.
Unfortunately, because of the proximity between the initially planned conference in Egypt (December 2018) and the COP24 summit (December 3 – 14), we at GIWEH feel it is best to postpone the Conference until a later date.
As the threat of climate change and the resulting erratic weather conditions further pressure the already scarce water resources all over the globe, let's take the lead to a water secure future based on the adoption of adaptive and resilient strategies.
As part of its contribution to and preparation for the 9th World Water Forum (WWF9) in Dakar, Water Management and Climate Science, and the link to COP 24 within the framework of water security and sustainable development, the Global Institute for Water, Environment and Health (GIWEH), in partnership with Natural Sciences publishing, the 9th World Water Forum, Zuwail City of science and technology, and the African Academy of Science, will hold the fourth edition of GIWEH’s Water Series conferences devoted to Water-Environment and Climate Change.
The conference will be a follow-up of GIWEH’s initiative for cooperation that unites and connects organizational communities with academia so as to create a strong and active network (United Communities - Academia Network – (UCAN)) and enhance its relationship with the government and the private sector. This initiative was launched at the Swiss Pavillon at a special event (Supporting the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda through Community-based approach at the World Water Forum 8 (WWF8)) in Brasiland as a follow up of theme 1.d.2 session 1.d.2: People, Science and Governments: towards inclusive knowledge co-generation for the water and climate goals.
Stay tuned for details on the new venue and dates! We look forward to seeing you there.
